Reid Murchison joined A.G. Edwards, a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors, in the Wilmington branch in 1993, and found great satisfaction in his work advising clients about the multi-faceted financial aspects of their lives.
Reid believes investment portfolios should be custom-tailored to each client’s particular situation, viewing financial resources as a means of helping clients achieve what is most important to them. He works with clients primarily on a discretionary basis depending upon client preferences.
Formerly, he was President of J.W. Murchison Co. and Senior Vice President of Jim Johnston Advertising in New York City. In the non-profit world, he was the founding President of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, past President of the Community Foundation of Southeastern North Carolina, past Vice Chair of Episcopal High School, and the past Treasurer of WHQR-Public Radio, the Historic Wilmington Foundation, Parents Community Preschool and Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. He is a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal Church.
He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (’76) and holds an Advanced Diploma in Pastoral Studies from Trinity College, Bristol, England. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ professional.
He lives with his wife, Linda in Wilmington, North Carolina, and has two daughters, Sarah and Clare, two sons-in-law – Andy and David, and six grandsons – Jack, Spencer, Drew, Stuart, Mac and Teddy, and his granddaughter Mary Frances.
