David Brownlow first entered the securities business in 2005 as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining Merrill, he spent 22 years in the banking industry, first as a corporate banker with Wachovia Bank, a predecessor of Wells Fargo Bank, in various locations throughout North Carolina and later as Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Manager for First Citizens Bank in Wilmington.

Professionally, David has always derived the most satisfaction from establishing and nurturing in-depth relationships with his clients, and his decision to leave the banking industry to pursue a career in wealth management has allowed him to address a client’s needs on both sides of their balance sheet.

David takes a planning based approach to wealth management, and feels strongly that individual investment recommendations should only be made in the context of the client’s goals, objectives and risk tolerance.

David was recruited by Financial Advisor Reid Murchison to join the team in 2008 because of his combination of experience, conscientious dedication and genuine concern for the client’s welfare.

He is a former Senior Warden at St. James Parish Episcopal Church, and is a past president or current board member of several local non-profit organizations. He is a 1983 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.S. Accounting), and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

He lives with his wife and two daughters in Wilmington, NC.

"Yes, we manage a portfolio of stocks and bonds and other investments, but what we really manage is a portfolio of goals and objectives for each one of our clients."
